Calling all golfers—have I got a deal for you? The perfect golfer’s retreat has just come onto the market. 2 Waterside Drive, Macleay Island will tick all the boxes for you. From the minute you drive through the automatic electric sliding security gate onto your property, park your car under the protection of the carport, look across Lucas Bay, and see the view of Lamb Island, you will know you have made the right decision.
It’s time to embrace the ultimate lifestyle choice of living waterside. This exceptional home not only offers stunning water views, but from the top balcony at the rear, you can witness the birth of the day as the sun rises in the east, reflecting off the waters of Lucas Bay. Imagine breakfast or afternoon drinks with a light show providing stunning scenery like that. To complete its travels in an arc across the sky, it often delivers a spectacular sunset as it prepares to sink in the west, overlooking the manicured greens of the Macleay Golf Club. A carport for your golf buggy is conveniently close to the gateway. Jump in the cart, and in 3 minutes, you could be teeing off on the 6th fairway across the road, a stone’s throw away.
Let me take you on a virtual tour, offering you a more comprehensive and engaging description of the layout of this unique property. I’ll start with the top floor:
The stairs from the driveway lead you to the front deck, a perfect place to sit with a coffee and contemplate how good your swing will be when you play a round of golf next. Or maybe a good place to debrief and play the game differently in your mind after the fact, as you drown your sorrows. In your mind, you told yourself to keep your head down, and now you know why. Because you won’t like what you see. Never mind, that last shot was a ripper, so you’ll go back again tomorrow.
From the front deck, stepping into the entry, there is a tidy office space off the hallway, and opposite that is the main bedroom with a walk-in robe. The modern bathroom has a large walk-in glass shower and sleek cabinetry for the vanity with a round raised sink. Step into the living area, the open dining alcove allows for uninterrupted flow when entertaining. A woman obviously designed the L-shaped lounge room/kitchen, because no matter where she is, she won’t miss out on any of the conversations. The ultra-modern kitchen is set out perfectly. It has a full corner pantry, cavity for a large double door fridge, electric wall oven and bench cooktop with stylish rangehood hovering above. There is a double sink if you are inclined to do the dishes by hand, but why would you when the dishwasher is right there? The spacious granite-look bench top has ample room for prepping. The breakfast bar helps the flow of entertaining without interruption. Oh. And did I mention the view from the kitchen sink? You guessed it, water views and Lamb Island. What more could you ask for? Step onto the back deck, and you will be in your alfresco area. The deck is partially protected from the weather with a sturdy rainproof roof and black shadecloth sun shades to pull down when needed. At night, a solar light shines onto the surrounding trees in the tropical garden below, giving it a party atmosphere.
Now let’s talk about the ground floor:
Hidden away beside the carport is a storage/workshop space housing the solar electrical system. It has many power outlets for the handyman.
Currently, the lower floor is operating as a BnB and topping up the bank account at $200 per night. This is something to consider if you don’t have teenagers and want to run it as an income spinner. Alternatively, leave it as an option for family or guests when they come to visit and experience our beautiful island. Allow me to paint you a picture. There is an internal staircase serving both floors, but it is not utilised for the sake of the BnB. At present, the entry is through the glass door from the back entertainment area. (More about that later.) A small living area has been set aside with a kitchenette/laundry accessible through a barn sliding door. Again with a view of Lamb Island. It boasts two bedrooms, one with a built-in robe. The bathroom is enormous, with a shower over the bath and a toilet next to the vanity. There is plenty of storage space throughout the lower floor.
Now for the wow factor. A massive eight-person spa is beside the eating area on the back deck. Yes, you heard me. It is huge. The entire back deck is enclosed with mosquito netting for the bightie season. If you think that’s enticing…wait for the next bomb. Take a short walk across the deck and open the door to sauna world. Yes. Your very own sauna. This is such a well thought-out experience, what could be missing? Well, you may ask. Behind the sauna in the back pocket of the property is the cutest “natural room” with a fire pit. Imagine taking a sauna, relaxing in the spa and topping it off with a glass (or flaggon) of mulled wine. Invite the neighbours over and have your very own full moon party. Let your imagination run wild.
Now about the maintenance for the garden:
There isn’t any. The gardens are well established with tropical plants, bougainvillias, passionfruit vines, and no lawn to mow. There is even an outdoor shower to cool off in summer. The property is dog-proof. So you needn’t worry about your enthusiastic fur baby escaping.
