Which Island should I buy on? As Humphrey Bogart once said so well, “Frankly my dear I don’t give a dam”
Well, I am asked this question several times a day and frankly the answer is “spend several days here”.
This may come across as “rude” but, I do not know your personal preferences to life… So, the only person/s who can honestly answer this question is “yourself”. What I like about one island, you may love or hate. My advice is; get to know us (islanders on different islands). As my wife says, we are all the same, but different! I recommend spending a few days or a week here, to get us, as islander.
We are the same but different, especially when it comes to residential, conservation, commercial and industrial land. If you spend several days here, you will get you know us as islander’s, you will find that out community groups are based on:
- Accommodation
- Arts – (anything can you think of…)
- Coffee
- Commerce
- Friendship
- Beaches
- Swimming
- Sailing
- Boating
- Dragon boats
- Fishing
- Theatre
- Sowing
- Knitting
- Health & healing
- Bowles
- Poker
- Drinking
- Cars
- Cards
- Bird watching
- Reading
- Walking
- Fitness
- Politics
- Kayaking
- Gardening
- & my personal favourited – Island real estate speculation
BUT… Please DO NOT Buy a property here because you heard someone talk about a BRIDGE!
This bridge has been a rumor for the last 50 years and will probably be for the anther 50 years… I personally believe that the future value of the islands will be because we are NOT Bridged to the mainland.
The beauty of the islands is that one you move her you ARE an islander. There is none of this “you need be here for 20 years to be a Local”. We have all come from somewhere else to become an islander…
